Commerce in general is a study of business processes, operations and performance. These activities in modern times form part of socio- economic system. It is through the Commerce System that the quality of life, in the form of goods and services are delivered to the society. The Commerce discipline freely draws upon the applied components of subjects such as Economics, Psychology, Statistics, Mathematics, Sociology, Law, Engineering and Technology etc. It has been considered as a modern applied discipline emerged after World War II. The commerce education therefore is considered both as liberal and general education on the one hand and at the same time empirical and functional on the other. The Department has identified three major thrust areas that is Accounting & Finance, Business Studies and Business Economics for focusing teaching & research activities.
