Is this entrance common for MCA, M.Sc. and M.Tech?

Ans:

Yes.

Am I eligible to take admission in any college affiliated to Pune University after giving entrance conducted by Department of Computer Science, University of Pune (PUCSD)?

Ans:

No. This entrance is specifically conducted for admission to Department of Computer Science University of Pune only.

Is category reservation applicable for all other states (Non Maharashtra State) in India?

Ans:

No. Reservation is applicable only for Maharashtra domicile SC, ST, DT/NT, OBC categories as per Govt. of Maharashtra G.R. and 3% for PH. Non-creamy layer certificate is necessary for OBC, DT/NT category candidates
4. What is the eligibility for Entrance test?
Ans: Eligibility for M.Sc. / MCA: Bachelor's degree in any discipline with minimum 50 % marks for open category candidates and passing marks for reserved category candidates.
Eligibility for M.Tech: GATE score in Engineering or any Mathematical or Physical Sciences or UGC/CSIR JRF qualification, valid in July 2008.
5. I would like to join for MTech (2008) I have NO valid GATE score. Is it possible for me to join the course?
Ans:

No.

6. Is any of the MCA/M.Sc./MTech a part time/full time course?
Ans: All courses in the department are full time courses.

Do MTech students get stipend?

Ans: No.
8. I am a Final year appearing student in my graduation; can I appear for the Entrance Examination? Am I eligible for admission?
Ans: Candidates studying in the final year of qualifying degree may appear for the Entrance Exam, provided their results will be declared by August 15, 2008. Such candidates if selected will be offered provisional admission subject to submission of the degree result, with the requisite marks percentage within due time.

What is the date of the entrance examination? What is duration of the examination?

Ans: The entrance examination for PUCSD is to be scheduled on 24-02-2008. The duration normally varies from 150 mins to 180 mins.
10. What is the syllabus for the entrance examination?
Ans: The entrance examination consists of multiple choice (objective type) questions, and covers the areas of Mathematics, general aptitude and English language.
Mathematics Syllabus:

1.  
Set theory: Set operations, relations, functions.
2.   Propositional logic: Formulation, deduction, evaluation, puzzles.
3.   Linear Algebra: Solution of a system of linear equations. Determinant and
      inverse  of a matrix, basic properties of matrices.
4.   Co-ordinate Geometry and Conic Sections: Equations of lines and planes, vector
      products; definitions and properties of conic sections.
5.   Trigonometry: Identities, computation of heights and lengths.
6.   Differential Calculus: Total and partial differentiation, limit of a function.
7.   Integral Calculus: Definite and indefinite integrals, solution of differential
      equations, computation of areas and volumes.
8.   Series and sequences: sum, mean, convergence, limit.
9.   Real and complex numbers: surds, solution of equations on complex domain.
10. Polynomials: solution of quadratic equations, properties of roots of polynomials
      with real coefficients, binomial expansion, Taylor series.
11. Permutations and Combinations.
12. Elementary Probability Theory: Computing probability from combinatorial
      reasoning, conditional probability.
